Christmas Baskets
Club members Karen Christian, Gene Kidder, Scott Pitre, Rev. Perry Hubbs, Dirk Boudreaux, and Wyvos Edmons met at Piggly Wiggly a few days before Christmas to pick up Christmas dinners for needy families throughout Opelousas. The club distributied 30 baskets during this service project.

Gumbo Time at Opelousas Lighting of the Village
Your Kiwanis Club provided free gumbo to residents attending the annual chrismas ligthing at Le Vieux Village. The pot held approximately 30 quarts of gumbo, and we served every last drop. Special thanks to our chef, Don Buller, and club members Dee Boudreaux and Shirley Marcus for putting the event together.



Kiwanis provides Thanksgiving baskets
Just before Thanksgiving, members of your club met at Piggly Wiggly to pick up 30 boxes of Thanksgiving supplies to distribute to families in the Opelousas area.

Kiwanis donates to St. Landry Parish Crimestoppers
At the meeting of November 10, President Karen Christian presented a check in the amount of $250 to Jimmy Darbonne with the St. Landry Parish Crimestoppers. These funds will help provide reward money for tips that lead to solved crimes.

Kiwanis participates at Opelousas Safe Halloween for Kids
On October 28th, the club sponsored a station at the City of Opelosuas Safe Halloween for Kids at Le Vieux Village. Thank you to new club members Dee Boudreaux and Shirley Marcus for decorating the space. Our club members distributed over 1500 bags of candy to a crowd estimated at over 2000 people.

On September 22nd, 2010, the Opelousas Kiwanis Club inducted two new members and its new officers for the 2010-11 Kiwanis Year. The club was joined by Lt. Governor Royal Colbert and incoming Lt. Governor Kevin Domingue.

Scholarship presentation to TH Harris - Opelousas Campus

At the meeting of August 18th, Mr. Willie Smith the administrator of T.H. Harris Technical College joined Wyvos Edmond and Dirk Boudreaux for a scholarship presentation. The $1,250 scholarship will be awarded to a student from the Opelousas area to help defray their educational costs.

Attending the August 11 meeting to kickoff the 2010 Kiwanis John Bradley Memorial Jamboree were jamboree chairman Wyvos Edmons, Doug Guillory with Opelousas Catholic, Tommy Badon with Westminster Christian Academy, and club president Dirk Boudreaux.

Fiddle Mania
The Opelousas club participated in the Fiddle Mania program along with Piggly Wiggly and the Yambilee Association. Pictured with our sponsored fiddle is Dee and Dirk Boudreaux.

April Service Project - On Saturday, April 10, 2010, a group of members assembled some picnic tables for placement at Le Vieux Village in Opelousas. The Garden Club of Opelousas assisted with a planter to complement the placement of the table. Pictured is Karen Christian, Wyvos Edmond, Dirk Boudreaux, Colby Boudreaux, and Rev. Perry Hubbs.


Meeting of April 21, 2010
Hadley Castille and Bobby Brinkman gave club members a presentation on the history of the fiddle, told some stories, and played some great music. A good time was had by all.

Christmas baskets - December 18, 2009

On Saturday, December 18th, club members Wyvos Edmond, Gene Kidder, Perry Hubbs, Dirk Boudreaux and Scott Pitre gathered at the Piggly Wiggly in Opelousas to distribute 30 food baskets to individuals and organizations in the Opelousas area. Thanks once again to club member Kevin Doucet for his assistance with the supplies.

On Saturday, November 21st, club members Dirk Boudraux, Wyvos Edmond, Gene Kedder, and Scott Pitre met at the Piggly Willgy to pick up 32 food baskets to be delivered to local families and organizations in the Opelousas area. Special thanks to club member Kevin Doucet for providing the products to the club.
New Member Initiation and Officer Installation - September 30, 2009
On Wednesday, September 30th, the club held induction of new members and the installation of new officers. Presiding over the ceremonies was Claudia Hall, past Lt. Governor of District 7 and current District Foundation representative. Although they are technically not new members, the club did formally install Frank Cuccio and Anne Jones as members of the club. Also being inducted as the officers for the 2009-10 club year were Karen Christian (President Elect), Wyvos Edmond (Secretary), Gene Kidder (Treasurer), Dirk Boudraux (President), and Garrett Duplechain (Immediate Past President). Approximately 25 members and guests attended the evening event.

Kiwanis Internantional service project day - April 4, 2009
On Saturday, April 4, President Garrent Duplechain and members Dirk Boudreaux, Rev. Perry Hubbs, and Scott Pitre gathered at the Opelousas park to build four picnic tables for the Opelousas park system. The tables were distributed throughout the park system for the park visitors to enjoy.
